About Music Therapy

Why Music Therapy?

Music therapy uses rhythm, sound, voice and shared music-making to support communication, connection and self-expression. It can be especially valuable where words are inaccessible, inadequate, or absent, offering a safe, creative way to be heard and to build confidence.

We are musical beings from the earliest stages of life: heartbeat, breath, movement and voice all have rhythm. In music therapy, these natural musical qualities can become a bridge for communication, play and relationship. For people with autism or additional needs, music can create opportunities to listen, respond, lead, share attention and experience success in a way that is personal and meaningful.
